Woolworks news for December

This is the time of year when knitters and crocheters think about the holidays and what they can make for loved ones. We have lots of ideas for you. Many new yarns for the season are arriving weekly if not daily. Here's the short list:
Cricket from Reynolds is a 52% rayon/48% wool, 5 sts/inch on a 5. (dk). This has a lovely subtle sheen and the rayon adds a nice touch and drape.
Marble now is available in baby colors in dk weight as well. Nice colors in all varieties, yardage is great and the price even better, wash and dry acrylic.
Kertzer Northern worsted acrylic machine wash/dry. 16 colors.
Kertzer Northern chunky acrylic, machine wash/dry, 8 colors.
Mission Falls 136 dk merino. Love this stuff. 14 fabulous colors.
Lana loft from BrownSheep is a 100% wool worsted/aran in 3 natural colors. Many more available. Ask to see the color cards.
Paradise from Nashua, 48% wool/40% baby alpaca/4%nylon. worsted weight in 7 lovely jeweltone colors.
On-Line supersock 100, 420 meters of sweet self patterning yarn so everyone can think you worked really hard on those socks. Wonderful colors, 8 to choose from.
New needle cases from Lantern Moon. Gorgeous silks.
Mini Mochi sock yarn from Crystal Palace is a very fun brighter self striping yarn with just a little more 'wooly-ness' for those that love winter socks. Fingering weight 195 yds and 12 colors to choose from. Makes a great hat or baby surprise sweater as well.
MMMMMM Malabrigo...chunky, worsted and sock! Yummy colors all here for the touching. Have to touch this stuff. This is a very popular yarn and hard to get from Uraquay. It's like wearing your favorite blanket. This makes great snowborder, earflap style hats. Also Magnum from Cascade is available for a one skein hat or scarf in a super light bulky yarn.
To add to the chunky or bulky section, is Lei, a very nice merino. Come check out the super chunky, fast knit, cabled scarf/wrap. This is very soft and warm not to mention the latest in the fashion magazines.

Happy Fall....it's knitting time, well, it's always knitting time.

News on the Woolworks front...New stuff..What's new? There's always new stuff to stimulate the senses. This week, oh my, we have sock yarn from Pagewood Farm. Just lovely and going out of the shop like crazy. I'd tell you about the 500yd hanks of Adirondack fingering weight in gorgeous colors but THEY ARE GONE already. I have to order more. I'd show you the lovely colors of Mission Falls 1824 Wool and 1824 Cotton but they are in the back room in the packages because there is NO ROOM to put it out... did I mention I have an addiction? There are some really cute kid patterns and interesting adult patterns to go with this yarn and both the cotton and the wool can be used interchangeably in the pattens. Really nice for those that can't use wool to have that option. New to us also is the Ella Rae Classic wool, worsted weight with really super nice pattern books, not too expensive either. Ellyn Cooper Yarn Sonnets in the superwash handdyed are also in, lovely.
New to the sock world is Happy Feet in a dk weight for all you chickens that are afraid of fingering weight and size one needles. This is very pretty stuff. Plymouth also introduced recently Happy Choices, a dyed scarf that you Un-knit into a sock or hat or whatever you choose. Much like the Conjoined Creations and around the same price. You can buy 2 and have a matching scarf and make something to go with it with the 2nd.
Harry Potter sock yarn is finally here, (Not like the movie is yet but oh well) Fun stuff. You can have your socks made and ready to where to the movie whenever they actually decide to release it. We ordered this stuff from Opal about 6 months ago in anticipation, they recinded the movie release but we didn't have a choice for the yarn. It was coming no matter what. So...here we go, lets knit some socks people! KNIT ON!
