The moment many of you have been waiting for is finally here! Brenda is back and ready to get Monday Knit Club on the road again. After a brief hiatus, we know you ladies are excited to have some Brenda knitting time!

The grand reuinion takes place on March 16th, starting at 6:30. The kick-off project is the holder in the Accessories magazine (insert month/year).  Don't miss it! So glad you're back, Miss Brenda!  Here are the details!

WE ARE GOING TO BE MAKING THE KNITTING ACCESSORIES HOLDER SHOWN ON PAGE 59

A BEAUTIFUL PROJECT THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR A KNITTER FRIEND OR KEEP FOR YOURSELF AND ORGANIZE YOUR OWN KNITTING ACCESSORIES.

MATERIALS:  3 balls of Debbie Bliss Eco Aran or equivalent (19st and 27 rows and 4 inches square)

Size US 7 needles

1 yard fabric for lining (not necessary for first class)

JUST A REMINDER

This is just a quick reminder that Woolworks will be closed this Friday, February 24th. Thankfully, Shelby has agreed to open up shop on Saturday from 10:00 - 5:00 and Miss Brenda is running the shop on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00. We are so thankul that we have these beautiful ladies to keep the ball rolling!

PAMPERING OUR HANDS AND FEET

We have to admit that winter has been pretty kind to us. Here we are halfway through February and Spring is on the horizon. But no matter how mild our winter was, it still did a number on our hands.

To keep our hands supple and ready to do some serious knitting and crocheting, we use Milk and Honey Lotion Bars.

Woolworks will be closed on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th. We are finally treating ourselves to a well deserved vacation. We will keep you posted on Sunday's schedule. Stay tuned!

CALLING ALL SPINNERS!

Due to Superbowl Sunday our spinning nights became offset. We will be meeting this Sunday, February 19th at the mill at 5:00 pm. After that we will resume our original schedule of every first and third Sunday of the month.  We are very excited to see our spinning group grow! Hope to see all of you there!

In order to do things in the proper way, we have decided to call our annual sale our Super Sunday Sale!  We don't want to step on anyone's toes, you know!  But you've guessed it.  It's that time of year again! 

EVERYTHING IN OUR SHOP IS ON SALE!! 

This is our way of saying thank you to all of our amazing patrons, and great time for knitters and crocheters of all ages and skill levels to get some yarn, pick a project, and go, go, go!

The game plan is simple! All you have to do is pick a football from the bowl on our front counter at time of checkout, and crack it open to see what your savings will be for the day! It doesn't get any easier than that! You can get anywhere from 20 to 50% off! Now's the time to peruse your patterns, books, magazines and favorite websites and plan your next few projects.

Just to entice you further, we have some new Jojoland that works up like a dream!  Look at how sweet little Eveline looks in the EZ Baby Surprise Jacket that Jen whipped up in one weekend!

Spinning!

Spinning, spinning, spinning, just keep spinning spinning spinning! Like little Nemo and his friends we just keep going. We love spinning. We have a new group meeting at the Belding Mill on Providence St. in Putnam, Ct. home of the Fibers 4 Eve Mill. Liz Conway, owner of  Fibers 4 Ewe has graciously invited anyone who wants to spin, to the conference room in the mill every other Sunday. We meet around 5:30 til 7 ish. Anyone is welcome, no level of experience neccessary as long as you have your own wheel or drop spindle. We can assist with some teaching though we mostly like to enjoy the time to spin ourselves since it's usually the only time we can do it.We talk about fiber, spinning techniques, plying techniques, laugh, and sometimes we have a snack. Baked goods are always welcome! We do go on field trips down the hall to the mill to pick out our next fiber to feed to our trusty wheels. We would love to welcome anyone else who is interested. We are meeting next on Sunday the 28 of January. Hope to see you there!

I guess it's really winter...sort of.

Well 50 degree days and no snow are not quite what we think of here in New England as normal for January. I guess we should be happy but there is something about snow that makes me want to knit. I have seen a little decline, after Christmas, in my urges to create. I have a feeling it might be more common than just with me. I am in a funk. Are you? Don't get me wrong, I love 50 degree days, I love not spending my entire paycheck on oil or snow removal but hey, my season is 'cold season'. We need cold to keep knitters and crocheters inspired to create those toasty warm items for their loved ones. We need to have those lovely warm socks and cowls and even big cozy sweaters! We here at  Woolworks we will continue to inspire your creativity with the wonderful selection of fibers and patterns even if mother nature in not cooperating. Though I feel as though I  am not producing anything, I have a few things to show you...
    Here on the right is the lovely 'Cedar Leaf Shawlette by Alana Dakos.
I found the pattern in a booth at the Vermont Sheep
and wool. The yarn is from Dirty Water Dye
works, a very nice silk and wool blend. The pattern is available from www.nevernotknitting.com.
Loved it so much I made two. The second in 100% silk from Blue Ridge Yarns. It was so nice to work with.
    If you want to try something new like the leaf edging on this shawl, I would encourage you. It is great fun. I get many compliments on this, I wear it as a scarf.

WHAT WOULD JANE KNIT IF SHE JOINED OUR KNIT ALONG?

We have been waiting for this month's special issue from Interweave Knits with great anticipation, and it is finally here!! The editor for this awesome magazine says it best- " Jane Austen captures the essence of humanity: quietly, succinctly, and with great humor". We couldn't agree more!!

Make a nice pot of tea and snuggle into your favorite chair as you flip through the stunning pages of this magazine. Spoil yourself with a pair of Pemberley Slippers, or knit your very own Mr. Knightly a dapper vest. Keep your hands warm with charming cameo mittens, and make a bright statement with a Scarlet Capelet.

There are so many finds in this issue, it will surely become one of your loveliest treasures. Because we are so taken with the charm and romance that Jane Austen inspires, we are organizing a Knit Along (KAL). We will gather on Wednesday evenings, choose whichever one of the patterns from the Jane Austen issue, and knit together as we listen to one of her fabulous novels on CD.

Now, here's the question: Which book? Sense and Sensibility? Pride and Prejudice? Emma? You tell us! We will be taking a vote and will announce the winner on November 11th. Stay tuned!
