I forgot to note that the pattern as written has a cast off edge at the thumb. The ones I am making now have a partial thumb so if you wanted to make them you'd just have to place the thumb stitches on a holder and go back and pick them up, knitting the thumb like a mitten. Go up as far as you want and cast off in rib, ( it will fit better).
