IT'S A BEAUTIFULLY WOOLY DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Meeting with reps can sometimes be a mind boggling experience, especially when you know there are a million different things you want to have for your very own. Knowing when to draw the line is the hard part. Ugh! However, today I had the greatest time meeting with the designer extraordinaire Ellyn Cooper and we spent a few hours happily traipsing through her fabulous collection! All I have to say is be prepared to drool because we ordered some beautiful yarn! And if that wasn't enough, Ellyn has patterns to support her unique hand dyes, so all you have to do is knit! Can't go wrong with that!

Of course we have classes lined up for our new arrivals. We are busily knitting away so you can see the beautiful results up close and personal. Ellyn is having a trunk show here in a few weeks so that will be a perfect opportunity for you to see how great her creative mind really is. Thanks Ellyn for such a great day! We can't wait to see you again!

FANTASTIC FEBRUARY

February is here and Punxsutawney Phil the Groundhog has seen his shadow yet again! Unfortunately that means we are in for another six weeks of winter. But on the bright side, Woolworks is a great place to gather and knit up or crochet items that will keep us nice and toasty warm until spring comes around.

As you know, the shop is bursting with yarn of every color, fiber, blend, and texture available, and if we don't have it, we can get it. But we also pride ourselves on offering our customers the cream of the crop wools from our local fiber artists.
I was commisioned to make a fair isle sweater for Wendy Lupien who raises sheep for The Connecticut Blanket. It was her wish to present her daughter with a lovely sweater made from the family sheep. After a lot of research, designing, and redesigning, I based the sweater on one of the gorgeous Fair Isles found in the new Lopi 28 Pattern book.

Here is what I came up with and saying I'm thrilled with the results is an understatement! I am sure Wendy's daughter will wear it well for years to come!

And in the continued spirit of Fair Isle, my friend Sally from Brown Farms has graciously agreed to display her fabulous creation (using her own sheep's wool of course!). It will be here at Woolworks for the next two weeks if you are so inclined to feast your eyes in person!

We have a few new additions to fuel your knitting addiction! For those of you who knit six different projects at a time (you know.....to keep things interesting), the Hiya Hiya Interchangeable Needles are joy at your fingertips. The floral silk case is gorgeous and the needles are lovely to work with.

January woes! Inventory and New POS system!

We are in the throws of year end inventory. I would usually close for a day or two but with the new system and entering each and every last item down to the buttons it'd take forever! We have been at it for 2 weeks now and those that have been by the shop see me at my post entering in data. I can say I don't like data entry and would not have been a very good secretary. I stand there all day and the other girls have picked up customer support for me. Thank the Lord for them! Or every one would be still waiting for me to help with a problem. We are almost done and should be up and running with the new system for the annual Super Bowl Sale on Feb. 7th. Please have patience with us while we learn about the new system. It will be easier in the long run for us to keep track of inventory and make timely orders to keep things in stock. I can't wait for it to be finished, we have some new items in boxes that we haven't opened and I can't wait to bring it out.
Sue has started the Smoke Ring Cowl lace class. There are some very beautiful pieces being produced. Kim's is lovely in cream colored cashmere. She is making steady progress. We will have a class list soon. I have not been able to concentrate on getting it done with the whole inventory/ new Point of Sale and I apologize for that. I know some are anxious. Dot has 2 squares almost done on the Great American Aran afghan so we will be scheduling that class to start soon.
We hope to see everyone on Super Bowl Sunday! Hours will be extended to 10-6pm. This is a one day sale only so come early!

Help! Help me make room and decrease my inventory!

Ok, so that may not be the best way to announce an end of the year sale, but we are having a sale. I'd like not to have to count everything that we have in the shop and if it's not there we don't have to count it...are you seeing the oppurtunity here? I know there are lots of gift cards out there to be used, you may as well get the best deal ever and come in this weekend! There will be savings up to 75% on all the sale items in the back room and 50% off some of the regular stock. All full bags purchased will be 25% off. You may buy from stock in the back room. This is great for those that plan on making that afghan this year. I am discounting the few knitting bags we have left and the books are always 15% off. Come on down, we'd love to see you. We will be open regular hours 10-5pm Sat and Sun.

Happy Holidays to Everyone, whatever you celebrate

I hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the season. We have only 10 days til Christmas! Yikes! I'm not ready. I know there are a lot of knitters out there feverishly making hats, mittens, socks and scarves for special people on their lists! I appreciate your choice to shop at Woolworks for those special projects. We have had a great few months with lots of new activity in the shop. We have enjoyed some new classes with Natasha. Lot's of new knitters are making impressive progress on more difficult projects. We are winding down for this year but will have a list of new projects coming up in the months ahead. Dottie will be doing the Great American Afghan sometime in January. Sundays afternoons we will continue small projects that will include some lace knitting with Sue. There is always help available and you don't have to wait until a specific class, just bring your work into the shop and someone will assist you in understanding or fixing. Our Thursday group has really bonded, such a nice, fun group of women! Anyone is welcome to join us, even if it's not on a regular basis. We'd love to see you.
We have lots of new items in the shop. New yarns arriving almost daily. I've already looked at spring yarns and it seems to early but we have to plan. I just wanted to update since I have not been here in a while. Facebook, email and ravelry are checked more and I often forget about my blog...hope you are all well and I wish everyone the best of Christmas' and remember Jesus is the reason for the season!

This was the snowiest day! The flowers were in full end of season bloom, they didn't even have time to go by before the snow flew! The cows were huddled together and these had just ambled across the street in front of us, if we were going any faster we wouldn't have been able to stop.
